"I'm sorry for that" Funny!
Got this letter for a Counter-Memo of a Sykes Asia employee who was qualified in the Top 15 for Internet Surfers of the Company during work. Funny!!
This is how she answered the accusations of the admin. It was like Nora Aunor in a court scene of one of her movies.. Here she goes.
"May 15, 2006 was the date when I was hired in Sykes as an agent. From that very moment up to know, I clearly understand the company's policies and regulations. In my 2 years in this company, there is no incident that I remember where I violated the company's policies. Then here comes the so called TAA memo they served in relation to my alleged unauthorized use of Sykes Technology Assets by browsing unrelated sites during work hours. If they are charging me for that, I plead guilty to that offense. Frankly, I am not interested to defend myself because I know it wont change anything and I accept the fact that it was my fault and as what a customer care agent always say; "I am sorry for that!". But since this memo requires me to explain my side and why I should not be held administratively liable for the potential violation listed, I am glad that I have this outlook where I can present my piece. So here goes: Yes, I am accessing sites that are not job related. But it wont in any way affect my duties and obligations as far as my job description is concern. I still believe that I am working every single day to fulfill my responsibilities as an agent while making friends and gaining experience are only second in importance. If you will pull up my stats per week, I am capable of meeting the account targets though not that outstanding but still it is very satisfactory. At the same time, try pulling up my HRIS, and you will see my loyalty to the company. No tardiness. No absences for the past 7 months. Try reviewing my record as an employee in this company, there is no moment that I had committed any action that damaged my integrity. For 2 years, I have been very careful how I’ve been projecting myself and everything I say or do. This incident mentioned in the memo was just the first time. And as they said that, there is always a first time. Yes, I definitely searching job unrelated sites. But I am proud to say that I only visit pageant and entertainment sites which are my cup of tea. I never accessed and will never access a pornographic sites using the so called company assets. I am not saying that there are agents who do it. Maybe not in this "account". Just maybe! Finally, I admit that I am searching my favorite sites every single day not for anything else but to widen my horizon and gain knowledge about certain things in the world where we live. With this, I have the chance to share the things I have read from these websites to my customers to build rapport and fill in dead air. And it really works! I always believe that it is very important for us not to be caught unaware and we should always be on guard for the things that happen. It is just fine to be ignorant once in a while but to remain ignorant for the rest of your life is a mortal sin. For ignorance is not a bliss because there is no such thing as a bliss. If the reasons I presented above will affect the decision to lessen the penalty I will always and forever be thankful. But if not, then I am ready to face the consequence. If this is the only way for us to achieve a certain reform that we are aiming for this account then I am willing to be the sacrificial lamb. I do not want to take this issue as something that is against me because I know it happened for a reason. Honestly, it helped me to enhance myself as an agent and as a person. As a British writer once said, "There is only one corner of the universe which you can discern of improving and that is your own self" I chose to embrace this experience and learn from it. To change and improve my well being. That made all the difference for me.
